Professor Edith Glazer Seminar

1093 Shelby Hall 250 Hackberry Lane, Tuscaloosa, AL, United States

Dr. Edith Glazer, associate Professor, from the University of Kentucky will present a seminar titled: "Targeting DNA (and other things) with metal complexes". Many cytotoxic metal complexes interact with or damage DNA. While this provides for effective cell killing, the non-selective mechanism leads to potential off-target effects. A promising approach is to develop compounds capable of targeting and damaging key biological molecules, such as specific nucleic acid structures, sequences, or proteins. However, unless highly potent (nM activity) compounds are identified, [...]

Ge Deng PhD Research Seminar

Professor Joaquín Rodríguez López Seminar

Elucidating Energy Storage in Soft Nanostructures through Versatile Electrochemistry Dr. Joaquín Rodríguez-López Assistant Professor Department of Chemistry, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign My group is interested in exploring the impact of structural and reactive heterogeneity in soft materials for energy storage. New materials and an expanded electroanalytical toolbox is allowing us to discover synergies at the nano and mesoscale for emerging battery technologies. In my talk, I will discuss two systems where nano-scale heterogeneity has an impact on macro-scale performance: [...]
