Dr. Snowden receives NIH grant

Dr. Tim Snowden is part of team that has received an NIH R21 grant entitled, “A New Paradigm for HIV Treatment: Targeted Degradation of HIV Reverse Transcriptase via the Ubiquitin-Proteasome Pathway.”  The $430,000 project is being led by Dr. Robert Reynolds at UAB, and includes co-investigators at UAB and the University Miami, in addition to UA.  The project seeks to explore new molecules that will bind to and destroy the HIV Reverse Transcriptase enzyme.  If successful, this technology will overcome the problem if increase viral resistance to current HIV therapies.
