Dr. Snowden receives NIH grant

Dr. Tim Snowden is part of team that has received an NIH R21 grant entitled, “A New Paradigm for HIV Treatment: Targeted Degradation of HIV Reverse Transcriptase via the Ubiquitin-Proteasome Pathway.”  The $430,000 project is being led by Dr. Robert Reynolds at UAB, and includes co-investigators at UAB and the University Miami, in addition to UA.  The project seeks to explore new molecules that will bind to and destroy the HIV Reverse Transcriptase enzyme.  If successful, this technology will overcome […]

Remembering Prof. Drury Caine

Professor Emeritus Drury S. Caine passed away on October 29th. Dr. Caine earned BS and MS degrees at Vanderbilt University and his PhD degree at Emory University.  After serving as an NIH postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University, he began his independent career at Georgia Tech where he rose to the rank of professor.  Dr. Caine joined the UA Chemistry Department faculty in 1983 as department chair. Dr. Leung publishes article on online exams

Dr. Diana Leung published an article entitled, “Transition Multiple Choice Exams Online: A Large-Enrollment Solution,” on the A&S Teaching Hub on the preparation of chemistry exams in an online format.  Chemistry exams, which often involve numerous graphics are cumbersome to prepare in the native Blackboard Learn format.  Dr. Leung describes a more efficient method using the TestGen software from Pearson.
